Introducing the Sweater Support Group!

This is a group for anyone who wants to work on a cozy Fall project, for someone who has never knit a sweater before, and for the ones who have drawers overflowing with knit goodies. All are welcome! Please join our group for social time and sweater support.

What is this group?

A guided sweater knitting group. This will include a few in-person meetups and frequent evening Zoom meetings.

Who is it for?

Anyone who wants to knit a sweater! The guild is a mix of experienced knitters and complete newbies. Our goal is to have a completed sweater to wear this Fall.

What can I knit?

Whatever sweater pattern is appealing to you. We have included a few beginner-friendly patterns below if you would like to select one of those.

Who is running the group?

Our sweater mentors include Jeanne Camelo and Carol Yeh, with emotional support from Amanda Dearhart. Our contact info is below. Please reach out with questions, or if you need a buddy to shop for materials!

When does it start?

We got started the week of October 12th, and it’s not too late to join! Pick a pattern, gather your materials, and reach out to any of us below to jump in.

How it started

The idea was generated back in March when Algae Ngo and I decided we wanted to knit our first sweaters. But we were both WAY too intimidated to get started. Even with all the encouragement and wisdom of the guild, some things are just a little bit scary. What we really needed was a wise sage (or two, or three) to support us along the way, and to help get us over the intimidation of starting. Lucky for us, and for YOU, there are many cool and experienced sweater knitting gurus in the guild. And if you ARE a knitting wizard, please join us!
