2026: The Year of Dye-Ability Guest Instructors

On October 30-31, FSWG welcomes Wayward Fiber Arts from North Carolina to present two hands-on workshops: Shibori Dyeing and Creating the Colorway for Your Next Project. These classes are part this year’s Guild theme, The Year of Dye-Ability.

Creating the Colorway for Your Next Project

Saturday, October 31, 10:00am-2:00pm

Location of both classes: Chancellor Community Center, 7300 Old Plank Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22407

Class size limit for each class: 10

Registration: Because class size is limited, you can only register for one class during early registration (August 4 -Aug 14). After August 14, there will be another opportunity to sign up for a second class if space is still available.

Can I prepurchase products to dye?

Wayward Fiber Arts has a beautiful selection of yarns, roving, and fabric products that can be used in their dye classes. You are also welcome to bring your own products to dye. 

Please see two attached lists for Wool Acid Dyeables and Shibori Dyeables. If there is an item you want to pre-select to use for the class, please send an email to waywardfiberarts@gmail.com and let them know which class you are taking and the item and quantity you want to purchase. You will pay for these items on the day of the workshop. 

Deadline to pre-select products for your class from Wayward Fiber Arts is October 2.

Instructors 

Pam Tsiokanos is the founder of Wayward Fiber Arts in New Bern, NC, and the current past-president of the Seacoast Spinners and Weavers Guild. She has over 15 years of dyeing experience. She will provide guidance on how colors interact with each other and how to create balance with multiple colors. 

Master dyer Julia McDonald teaches frequently at Wayward Fiber Arts and will lead the group in the ancient resist-dye art of Shibori.
