Shibori Dyeing with Wayward Fiber Arts
Date: Friday, October 30, 4:00–7:00pm

Donation: $75 +3(fees)= $78 (plus cost of materials if pre-purchased from instructor)

Shibori is a Japanese method for creating patterns on fabric by binding, folding, stitching, or wrapping the fabric and then dyeing it in an indigo vat. The binding preparation is extremely meditative, and the dyed pieces are a beautiful surprise once unwrapped — a low-pressure, rewarding form of creating.
What to Bring
- Your own cotton, rayon, silk, bamboo, or linen fiber/fabric to dye — or pre-purchase items from the instructor (see below)
- An apron or clothing that can get stained with dye
- Something to work on during downtime while your dye sets
Pre-Purchasing Dyeable Items
Wayward Fiber Arts offers cotton bandanas, silk scarves, and napkins for pre-purchase. Email waywardfiberarts@gmail.com with your class and item selections by October 2. Payment for pre-selected items is made the day of the workshop.
Instructor
Julia McDonald, master dyer who teaches frequently at Wayward Fiber Arts, will lead the group in the resist-dye art of Shibori.
