Materials
Starter fiber is included. You may also bring your own fiber.
Bring your own wheel if you have one, or try one of the class wheels/spindles to practice on. (Availability may vary.)
Wheels/spindles may include: Ashford Kiwi, Louet Traveller, Ashford Traditional, Pocketwheel, Hansen Mini-spinner, Electric Eel Wheel 6.0, Fricke, drop spindles, and supported spindles.
What we’ll cover
- Fiber basics and preparation (roving, batts, rolags, top, and more)
- Drafting techniques (short draw, long draw, park and draft)
- Plying (2-ply, 3+ ply, and chain/Navajo plying)
- Wheels vs spindles, and how different wheel systems work
- Finishing your yarn (skeining, setting twist, and storage)
