Fredericksburg Spinners & Weavers Guild Member Scholarship Program

Purpose   

The Fredericksburg Spinners & Weavers Guild Member Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to current members who are dedicated to furthering their knowledge and skills in the fiber arts, with an emphasis on weaving, spinning and knitting.  The scholarship supports the Guild’s mission to foster a supportive environment for fiber artists and promote the knowledge and use of fiber arts in the community. 

Eligibility  

  • Applicants must be current members of the Fredericksburg Spinners & Weavers Guild. 
  • Applicants must be able to demonstrate a strong interest in and dedication to the fiber arts.
  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
  • An applicant can not receive an additional scholarship within a three-year period.

Award   

  • The scholarship award amount may vary up to $300.
  • Funds are intended to be used for tuition and course materials, related to fiber arts education, such as workshops, classes, conferences, and or programs. 
  • Scholarship funds cannot be applied retroactively to already completed studies or events.

  • Applicants must submit a completed FSWG Member Scholarship Application form.
  • Applications may be submitted online via email at FSWGuild@gmail.com , or via postal mail.

Selection   

  • The application process is open year-round. Applications should be submitted to the Scholarship Committee in a timely manner which will allow the committee 30 days to review.
  • The Scholarship Committee will review applications based on the applicant’s enthusiasm for fiber arts, the proposed study’s relevance, and its alignment with the Guild’s objectives.
  • Applicants will receive a response to their request within the 30 day period.

Additional details   

  • Scholarship recipients will be required to share their knowledge with the Guild through presentations or demonstrations upon completion of their studies. 
  • The FSWG reserves the right to adjust the scholarship program guidelines as needed.
